Linnaeus Study Room

You can hire the Linnaeus Study Room for courses, seminars, meetings, training sessions and conferences. It is a former coach house, located next to the University of Bristol Botanic Garden in Stoke Bishop, near Durdham Down.

Facilities

The room is often used for teaching and learning and has a range of layout options. You can request to use our equipment and you can organise University catering to come to the room while you are there.

Layouts and capacities

The Linnaeus Study Room can be laid out: 

  • classroom style, capacity 30
  • boardroom style, capacity 24
  • theatre style, capacity 36
  • workshop style, capacity 24

Equipment and Wi-Fi

You can request to use our equipment, at no extra charge: 

  • desktop PC, with laptop connectivity
  • smart whiteboard
  • flip-chart

You can indicate what you need when you make your booking. 

Wi-Fi internet access is available on site through either eduroam or UoB Guest.  

Catering

There is a drinks machine in the room, serving tea, coffee and hot chocolate. Drinks are charged at £1. Please bring your own cup if you are able. There is also a water cooler.  

Staff can arrange refreshments directly with our University Catering team.

You will need to tell us which caterers are suppling your event when you make your booking. 

Cost

You hire the Linneaus Study Room for a minimum period of a day, 8am to 5pm.

  • £150 for staff and students at the University
  • £200 for members of the public, external organisations. 

How to book

The Linnaeus Study Room is mainly used by University staff during term time. 

It is often available to hire outside term time.

Visit the Botanic Gardens

The University of Bristol Botanic Garden is open to members of the public, staff and students.

It’s located in Stoke Bishop, near the student halls of residence and Bristol Downs.

Our hidden garden has more than 4,500 plants, ponds and glasshouses for you to explore.
