Robotics

Robots are set to emerge from labs and factories and join us in the outside world. They will help us in our homes, transport us and our goods, closely collaborate with us, and sense us in new and rich ways.

Future robots will be smart devices turning up everywhere in our lives. Technology like this will surprise us - and it's our job to make those surprises good.

Professor Arthur Richards, Head of Group

Our group works on a wide range of challenges covering both hardware and software aspects of robotics: sensing, perception, reasoning, cooperation, control and actuation.  We work in partnership with the University of the West of England through the Bristol Robotics Lab, a joint community based in a dedicated 4,500sqm facility on UWE’s Frenchay Campus.
