On 19 April in the Guardian’s Higher Education Network blog, Professor Harvey Goldstein from the Graduate School of Education contributed new research showing school league tables can be faulty.

League tables have all the appearance of being useful but they are often one-dimensional and can have perverse side effects that cause more harm than good

The findings are available in a report commissioned by the British Academy called ‘Measuring Success: League tables in the public sector’.
