Attainment grouping in England is unusual in the extent to which attainment grouping, or setting, is used. In this seminar, we will present our most recent findings on remote mathematics teaching in mixed attainment and setting schools. Drawing on this, we will consider the implications for education and potentially effective strategies for addressing educational disadvantage. We will also discuss the new approaches to investigating grouping practices and equity that we are developing in our Student Grouping Study.
