Doctoral training models explained

  • Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT):

    provides training for cohorts of research students within focused research areas, often defined strategically by the Research Council funder(s), and concentrated on academic- and/or industrially‐relevant research topics.

  • Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP):

    provides training for cohorts of research students across a broad range of subjects as determined by the research institution(s).

  • Doctoral Training Centre (DTC):

    provides training for cohorts of research students.

  • Industrial Doctoral Centre (IDC):

    provides training for cohorts of research students and incorporates a strong industrial focus.
