Dr. Abhaya Vadlamudi

Dr. Abhaya Vadlamudi is a Clinical Academic Senior Research Associate at the Bristol Dental School, University of Bristol. After earning her Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), Abhaya pursued further studies, obtaining a Master of Science (MSc) in Cancer and Clinical Oncology from Barts Cancer Institute, Queen Mary University of London. Abhaya also holds a Fellowship in Medical Aesthetics and Cosmetology (FMAC). Prior to joining the University of Bristol, Abhaya worked within the Cardiac Surgery Research Department based at Glenfield Hospital at the University of Leicester.

Currently, Abhaya is focused on research related to cleft lip and palate as part of the Cleft@18-23 NIHR Programme Grant. Abhaya works closely with the Chief Investigator, Work Package Leads, Programme Co-applicants, and research team of the Cleft@18-23 Programme in developing programme documentation such as study protocol, PPI/EDI strategies, and study participant documents amongst others. In the later stages of the programme, Abhaya will be a core member of setting up and running of research clinics as well as data collection.

With a strong background in both dental surgery and clinical research, Abhaya brings a unique perspective to her work, focusing on improving outcomes for patients with cleft lip and palate conditions. In her role at the University of Bristol, Abhaya aspires to continue making meaningful contributions to the field of dental research, aiming to improve oral health outcomes. Driven by a passion for academic inquiry and a commitment to making a difference in patient care, Abhaya is actively engaged in interdisciplinary collaborations and strives to contribute to the advancement of knowledge in her field.
