Applications

Successful applicants normally hold or are aiming to achieve a minimum 2:1 MEng or merit at Masters level or equivalent in engineering, physics or chemistry. Applicants without a master’s qualification may be considered on an exceptional basis, provided they hold a first-class undergraduate degree. Please note, acceptance will also depend on evidence of readiness to pursue a research degree and performance at interview.

Funding

Each year we offer 10-15 fully-funded, 4 year UKRI studentships covering:

  • £24,917 tax-free stipend per year for living expenses.
  • Tuition fees at UK student rates.
  • £2,300 per year for activities that support research.

These studentships are governed by UKRI/EPSRC student eligibility rules and applicants should check whether they will be eligible.  

Applications received from self-funded/sponsored international and EU students are welcome and will be considered.
