Classical Association Conference 2015 in Bristol

In 2015 the Annual Conference of the Classical Asso­ciation will be hosted by the Department of Classics and Ancient History at the University of Bristol. The dates for the con­ference are Friday 10 April to Monday 13 April 2015. The opening drinks reception will take place on Friday 10th at Bristol City Museum. The conference dinner and final night drinks reception on Sunday the 12th will be held at The Grand Thistle City Centre Hotel, Bristol, the oldest working hotel in Bristol.

Plenary speakers:

Professor Miriam Leonard (UCL) Tragedy and the Posthuman

Professor Shane Butler (Bristol) Neither/Nor: A Deep Classics Primer

Presidential address:

Professor Peter Rhodes (Durham) Ktema es aiei (A Possession for All Time)

The academic programme will include papers on Greek and Latin Language and Literature, Greek and Roman History, epigraphy, Greek and Roman visual and material culture, early Christianity and late antiquity and Classics teaching in schools and universities.  It will also include a number of panels on The Senses, Reception, Eco-criticism, the Impact Agenda and the Sustainability of Classics in the 21st century.
