Stavros Niarchos PhD Studentship

Thanks to the generosity of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, The Institute of Greece, Rome and the Classical Tradition at the University of Bristol is pleased to be able to offer a three-year PhD studentship, starting in October 2010 and covering both fees and maintenance, for the study of ancient Greece and/or its continuing influence.

Thanks to the generosity of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, The Institute of Greece, Rome and the Classical Tradition at the University of Bristol is pleased to be able to offer a three-year PhD studentship, starting in October 2010 and covering both fees and maintenance, for the study of ancient Greece and/or its continuing influence. Applicants must have completed a first degree and either be studying for or have completed a Masters degree in a relevant subject. Information about the research interests of members of the department of Classics & Ancient History can be found here.This studentship is open to applicants from EU countries as well as from the UK.

Candidates must submit an application for postgraduate research in the School of Humanities, University of Bristol; in order to be considered for the studentship. The deadline for this application is the 1st of June. The application must include a summary of your proposed research topic; you will need to arrange for two academic references. Application forms can be downloaded from here (under 'research application process'). Candidates who have already applied for postgraduate study at Bristol in a relevant field, and who are unsuccessful in another funding competition (e.g. AHRC studentships), will automatically be considered for this studentship, and do not need to re-apply.
