Miguel was sponsored by the Mexican national council of science and technology (CONACYT) his research centred in controlling physicochemical properties of colloidal systems using smart and stimuli responsive materials. Miguel developed interest in the synthesis of surfactants, polymers, ionic liquids and nanoparticles and the generation of different colloidal systems which he characterized using small-angle neutron scattering, light scattering and surface tensiometry. In his free time he likes to read graphic novels, play basketball and watch films.‌
