Programme summary
Programme: Volunteer placement with Think Pacific
Dates: 4 weeks between June and August 2025
Location: Bali, Fiji or (new for 2025) Thailand
Eligibility: Open to all undergraduate students not in their final year
Cost: Programme fee £2,145 (Fiji) or £1,895 (Bali or Thailand). See below for additional costs

Programme details
You will be joining a group volunteer project or internship with other students in Fiji, Bali or Thailand for one month. You will be working with local communities and organisations and can choose from projects across a range of sectors.
The programme will include:
- experiencing cultural immersion in traditions and customs
- developing employability skills
- meeting like-minded people
- making a contribution

There are different project dates to choose from between June and August.

Eligibility
The University of Bristol has limited Turing funding for students on the Think Pacific programme.
To apply for Turing funding, you must be a current undergraduate student at the University of Bristol and not in your final year.
If you are not eligible for, or do not receive an offer of, Turing funding, you may still apply directly to join a Think Pacific programme.
Language requirements
There are no language requirements for this programme.
Academic requirements
You do not need to meet any academic requirements to take part in this programme.
Costs
The total programme fee to pay to Think Pacific is £1,895 (Bali or Thailand) or £2,145 (Fiji).
This includes:
- accommodation on your project
- in-country travel for your project
- most meals during your project.
- all-inclusive briefing in a resort (depending on location)
- for Fiji, weekend excursions (Bali and Thailand will have these available at an additional cost)
- evening activities
- a project donation
- 24/7 support from the TP team, including project leaders living alongside you
You will need to organise and pay for all other costs, including:
- return flights
- visa (if necessary)
- vaccinations
- kit
- personal spending
Funding
Turing funding
There are limited places on this programme that will be supported by Turing funding.
There are two rates available:
Standard rate (formerly Turing rate A)
- Cost of living grant: £476 for a 28-day programme.
Eligibility: All undergraduate students not in their final year.
Enhanced rate (formerly Turing rate B)
- Cost of living grant: £588 for a 28-day programme.
- Travel grant: dependent on destination (and evidenced by receipts).
- Readiness to travel costs: reimbursed at actual cost (evidenced by receipts).

How to apply
You must apply for a place with Think Pacific directly through their website. You can apply for Turing funding via the link below from 28th November. You do not need to have a place confirmed with Think Pacific in order to apply, but priority will be given to those who have registered their interest with them (e.g. have registered for an information session).
