What you can study

In Earth Sciences, you can study everything from the origins of the Earth to dinosaurs, human evolution, and volcanoes. Our aim is to help you put theory into practice, both in the labs and the field, enabling you to tackle urgent global challenges and engage in research with real-world impact.

You will find units on:

• climate change, sustainability, and geoenergy
• palaeobiology and geochemistry
• volcanoes and oceans

Pre-requisites

At UK universities, students specialise from their first year and rarely take units outside their degree subject. This means that:

• Year 1 units are suitable for all students.
• Year 2 units require some university study in the discipline.
• Year 3 units require a strong background in the discipline.
