Project Summary:

My PhD project aims to improve fatigue management in children with ME/CFS and the communication between the key stakeholders involved in their care (parents/teachers) by exploring the feasibility of a multi-stakeholder self-management tool for primary school children with chronic fatigue syndrome. This project will involve qualitative and participatory design methods with children, their parents and teachers to develop the design guidelines for an interactive wearable/digital system that can facilitate monitoring of physical activity (e.g. step count, HR) and symptom ratings. It is hoped that such a system can support activity management efforts whilst at school to prevent an exacerbation of chronic fatigue symptoms.

General Profile:

I have a background in Psychology, graduating from University of Bristol with a BSc in Psychology, and an MSc in Health Psychology from Kings College London. For my master’s dissertation, I explored how clinical and psychological variables may impact the quality of life of those living with Heart Failure. I also undertook a clinical placement with a patient advocacy organisation, during which we developed a feasibility study of a peer support self-management intervention for young people living with haemophilia. I am interested in exploring how technology can support individuals with self-managing their health.
