Project Title: The Interplay between Cognitive Deficits and the Risk of Psychosis: Sleep as a Metric and Mediator

Supervisors:

Prof Matt Jones, School of Physiology, Pharmacology & Neuroscience

Dr Zahraa Abdallah, School of Engineering, Mathematics and Technology

Prof Marianne van den Bree, School of Medicine, Cardiff University

General Profile:

I graduated with a BSc. Computer Science from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria and went on to have a MSc Degree in Computer Science from the African University of Science and Technology(AUST), Abuja Nigeria.

My thesis was on a Mobile Based Digital Image Analysis for Cervical Cancer Detection. My work sought to contribute to improving the early detection of cervical cancer, especially in Sub-Saharan Africa where the high cost of testing and shortage of health workers lead to late diagnosis and poor prognosis. I conceptualized a novel self-contained android application for end-to-end image analysis and result presentation. During the course of my MSc, my team represented AUST at the Maiden edition of the African Grand Challenge; a business innovation contest targeted at reducing maternal and child health through the use of technology. We pitched a first-prize award-winning end-to-end solution to combat maternal sepsis. These two events formed my solid foundation and interest in digital health and care.

I have over 8 years of professional experience as a software developer and about 6 years of academic and research experience as a lecturer at Nile University of Nigeria.

I look forward to solving a complex mental health challenges by applying explainable AI, deep learning and data analytics.
