About us

Great food is at the core of our in-house catering brand, Source.
 
We provide a high-quality dining experience centred on delicious, sustainable and nutritious food. This supports our students' wellbeing, building community and friendship over shared meals. We offer a wide array of plant-forward and higher welfare foods, including Halal chicken.
 
Source serve more than 2,000 meals a day. Our menus reflect the University's diverse community. We cater for a range of dietary needs and preferences.
 
One day per week is fully planted-based in our catered accommodation. This supports our University's vision around sustainability.
 
We strive to introduce students to new food experiences with our menus and events. Source organise a range of themed meals throughout the year such as:
  • Halloween
  • Diwali
  • Thanksgiving
  • Chinese New Year
  • Christmas.
We are members of Menus of Change, a global collaboration of Universities. Our shared goal is to cultivate the long-term wellbeing of all people and the planet, one student, one meal at a time.

Breakfast - served 7 days a week

Each day, we offer a variety of hot options, allowing you to go 'full English' or have a lighter choice if you wish. Waffle Fridays are always popular. There's a daily yoghurt bar with a selection of fruit compote, dried fruits and seeds, fresh fruit, breads and pastries.

Lunch - served on Saturdays and Sundays (an evening meal is not provided at weekends)

Some of our highlights from our lunch offering includes:

  • traditional Sunday roast including plant-based options and seasonal side dishes
  • Thai green chicken curry
  • sweet and spicy butternut squash and lentil curry
  • beef or bbq pulled jackfruit burger
  • Greek gyros.

Dinner - served Monday to Friday

Our dinner highlights include: 

  • tandoori spiced chicken breast with yoghurt dressing
  • roasted butternut squash and spinach lasagne
  • feta, sweet potato and spinach pie
  • smokey bean chilli
  • Sichuan pepper tofu
  • chilli buttered sweetcorn
  • pasta bar
  • Caribbean jerk jackfruit taco.

Dessert - served 7 days a week

We serve a range of desserts across the week, including:

  • salted caramel poke cake
  • chocolate brownie
  • Biscoff cheesecake
  • banana and maple cake
  • homemade jam doughnuts.

Students with additional needs

We aim to ensure meal services are accessible to all, including those with additional needs. In exceptional circumstances, students may have meals delivered to them. Read our Policy for Students in Catered Accommodation with Additional Needs to learn how we work with ResiLife to do this.

Guest meals

Staff, students and members of the public can dine at our catered accommodation as a guest. You can enjoy breakfast for £5.50 and lunch/dinner for £8.50. All dishes are made fresh on site by our chefs and meals come with unlimited tea and coffee. If you don't have time to sit in, bring a clean tub and you can take your meal away with you. Monday to Friday

Breakfast: 7:30 am to 9:30 am
Dinner: 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm 

Weekends

Breakfast: 9 am to 11 am
Lunch: 12 noon to 1:30 pm
