‘Literary and Visual Landscapes’, a University of Bristol interdisciplinary seminar series, presents a half-day symposium in April 2018 on the theme of ‘traversing land, sea and sky: travel and the landscape’. This symposium provides a welcoming and stimulating environment for researchers to share their insights and expertise, and opportunities to network with academics within and across disciplinary boundaries.

The keynote speaker is Dr Charlotte Mathieson, University of Surrey, whose research focuses on travel and mobility in nineteenth century literature. Her talk is entitled: 'From walking the Moors to threading the streets: the landscapes of Charlotte Brontë’s fiction and life writing'.

In addition, an exciting and diverse range of speakers from a variety of disciplines and backgrounds will explore the theme from a range of persepctives. Full details of programme to follow.

Tickets are free but must be booked in advance so that catering can be ordered for the correct number of attendees.

The symposium will begin at 12:30 and finish at 6, followed by a wine reception. Tea and coffee will be provided throughout, but lunch will not be provided - please eat before you arrive.
