Greening of the Himalayas - impacts of melting ice

26 June 2018, 9.00 AM - 27 June 2018, 5.00 PM

School of Geographical Sciences

Holding the third largest volume of freshwater on the planet and often referred to as "the Third Pole", Himalayan glaciers are under threat from enhanced rates of glacier melting in the 21st century. The complex challenges facing downstream populations require an interdisciplinary approach. Our aim is to bridge links between those who
understand the changing glacial environment, with water and food security innovators and those who understand environmental resource management. This workshop will bring together researchers spanning the whole Himalayan region from a variety of disciplines to establish connections and explore new research ideas.
