GRACE satellite mission for monitoring changes in hydrology under climate change and human-intervention

11 July 2018, 1.00 PM - 11 July 2018, 2.00 PM

Seminar Room 1, Geographical Sciences, University of Bristol

This BRIDGE seminar is by Bramha Dutt Vishwakarma, Bristol Glaciology Center, and may be of interest to hydrologists as well as BRIDGE.

Please note this event is only open to University of Bristol staff and students.

GRACE satellites have helped us understand the regional hydrology (groundwater changes also) at catchment scale. However, there are many questions that haunt people at the application end: What is the data format and what it means? What is the spatial resolution? What is the accuracy? And How to process/interpret it. I will try to cover these questions at large that would help hydrologists to add another dimension to their current or future research. Furthermore, recently many efforts are being made by hydro-geodesists to connect GRACE with climate-sciences but there has not been much success due to minimum involvement of climate scientists. This might be an excellent start to something great!
