Resilience research workshop

17 September 2015, 1.00 PM - 17 September 2015, 2.30 PM

G22 (Alberts Bar), Victoria Rooms, University of Bristol

Join artist researchers Fourthland as they draw on themes of Resilience in a workshop bringing together a community of practice to explore the potency of sharing across fields of knowledge.

Fourthland have been artists in residence at the Cabot Institute from April - September 2015 and have met with a number of academics to explore the meaning of resilience in different disciplines. This event will present some of their findings and weave together ideas from Civil Engineering, Anthropology, Literature, Chemistry and Art.

Resilience themed refreshments will follow the event.

Background to the project

Within the context of Bristol being named the Green Capital 2015 and the Rockfeller Foundation nominating Bristol as a resilient city, Fourthland was asked to unpick the notions of 'Resilience' within this context and the city as a whole, drawing in their practice from further afield.

What to expect from this event

This gathering will be an opportunity for researchers to meet in a different context, share ideas about resilience across disciplines and explore new ways of relating to materials. Expect a selection of new folk tales, lost sounds and objects, as we search for possibilities of archetypical understandings of resilient matter. Your input will contribute to the development of an exhibition in Arnolfini towards the end of the year.
