Abstract
To thrive in the face of looming economic and ecological crises, every community needs to reinvent its systems for accessing food, energy, goods, water, housing, and transportation. Land trusts, worker-owned cooperatives, community-supported farms, renewable energy cooperatives, local currencies, and a wide variety of unique enterprises and organizations will build the foundation for the next economy. The necessary legal, governance, and financial structures will demand creativity, calling upon designers, lawyers, policy-makers, entrepreneurs, educators, and many others to aid in the invention of truly just and resilient economies. Lawyer and cartoonist, Janelle Orsi will take us on a visual tour of this next economy, breaking down complex legal and economic concepts, and promising to leave you feeling hopeful and inspired.
