A lecture by IAS Benjamin Meaker Visiting Professor - Professor Sue Newberry (Sydney University).
Sue is Professor of Accounting at Sydney University where she recently completed a term as Head of Department. She originates from Christchurch, New Zealand and her specialism is government accounting. She has investigated the financial management of government obligations in preparation for natural disaster, based on the New Zealand government’s Natural Disaster Fund, also known as the Earthquake Fund. The School of EFM / Cabot Lecture provides pictorial footage of the harsh reality of the Christchurch Earthquake and examines the almost mythical nature of the government's Earthquake Fund, she considers a way forward in the financial management of natural disasters.
