Cabot Institute Annual Lecture 2014: Prof Peter Head CBE FREng FRSA

The Great Hall, Wills Memorial Building, Queen's Road, Bristol

People, planet and profit - connecting local to global

In the run up to Bristol European Green Capital 2015, we are pleased to present Prof Peter Head CBE FREng FRSA who will give the Cabot Institute Annual Lecture 2014.

This prestigious event in the Great Hall will see Peter describe his ground breaking work in integrating global, local, economic, human and ecological information into a model which can be used to inform and test local decisions and help create inclusive, resilient and sustainable cities.

His easy-to-use model will enable planners and policy makers to decide what investments to make and what projects to build, in what order and with what combination of public and private capital.  This means better decisions sooner for people, planet and profit but also for communities, the environment and for business.  The model can help humankind  create "collaborative consciousness" to achieve the change that will improve our resilience to the uncertainties of the future, notably climate change and increasing food and water demand for the growing population which will become increasingly urban and middle class.

We will have an esteemed panel to discuss his working leading on to Bristol becoming European Green Capital in 2015.  We will also take the opportunity to award Peter with a Cabot Institute Distinguished Fellowship.
