7 May 2014, 4.00 PM - 7 May 2014, 4.00 PM

Seminar Room 1, School of Geographical Sciences, University Road, Bristol, BS8 1SS

Speaker

A physical geography seminar by Dr Gregor Leckebusch (University of Birmingham).

Abstract

Meteorological extreme events like severe winter storms, heavy precipitation events, or heat waves, are the major source of insured and economic losses in western central Europe. This presentation will analyse recent knowledge on the dynamics of such events and concentrate on one natural hazard (winter storm) for the deduction of estimates for the future with respect to potential changes in severity or frequency of these events.

This event is open to all UoB staff and students.
