NERC GHG Call - open talks

27 April 2012, 11.00 AM - 27 April 2012, 11.00 AM

Seminar Room 1, Geographical Sciences, University Road, Bristol, BS8 1SS
We are going forward with a full NERC bid under the call " greenhouse gas emissions and feedbacks", for the deliverable on "upscaling of small-scale terrestrial process understanding to inform inventories and models" .

This bid focuses on CO2, CH4 and N2O.

More info on the call.

Our proposal focuses on managed lands.  It will scale up from small scale flux and chamber measurements over managed agricultural land and uplands, using JULES-ECOSSE (that will bring in methane and nitrogen modelling capabilities to JULES) and data assimilation techniques.  Also linking a forest management model to JULES to explore management versus natural feedbacks.

This "open" talks session will be short talks, mostly for project members to briefly overview their relevant work (small scale chamber and flux measurements, JULUES, ECOSSE, forest inventory, data assimilation, etc.). There will also be additional talks from project partners (stakeholders) on inventory methods and needs, and from Simon O'Dougherty/Matt Rigby on the tall tower work they do on verifying inventories.

This two hour event is open to all University of Bristol staff and students.
