Back on the road? International climate policy after Durban
26 January 2012, 12.00 PM - 26 January 2012, 12.00 PM
NSQI Seminar Room, Centre for Nanoscience and Quantum Information, Tyndall Avenue, Bristol, BS8 1FD
In the third seminar from the Cabot Institute seminar series on energy and climate change policy,
Robert Falkner (Centre for Climate Change, Economics & Policy, LSE) will present - Back on the road? International climate policy after Durban
The international climate conference in Durban ended with a broad agreement to negotiate a global treaty on climate mitigation. This is to be signed by 2015 and in force by 2020. All major emitters have agreed to this, but the legal status of a future deal – and whether it will produce timely mitigation effects – remain in question. Is international climate policy back on the road? Or is this the beginning of the end of traditional multilateral climate diplomacy?
Discussants: Catherine Mitchell, Exeter & Bronwen Morgan, Bristol
A light lunch will be provided. For further information contact e.fortin@bristol.ac.uk
