Launch of the Cabot Institute
The official launch date of the Cabot Institute will take place on Monday 15th November in the University's Wills Memorial Building. The programme will be as follows:
Afternoon Session (delegates only)
2:30pm – 3:00pm: Arrival and tea/coffee.
3:00pm – 4:30pm: Talks by leading University academics outlining the aims of the Cabot Institute and key research themes.
4:30pm – 5:45pm: Refreshments, networking and exhibition (poster display, hands-on exhibits and stands from partner organisations). A plaque to mark the official launch of the Cabot Institute will be unveiled at 5:15pm.
Evening Session (open to all)
6:00pm – 7:00pm: A 'Question Time' style discussion panel entitled, 'How should we live with global environmental uncertainty?'.
The discussion will be chaired by Dr Julian Hector, Head of Natural History Radio at the BBC, and the panellists will be Julie Hill MBE, of the Green Alliance, Brendan Gormley, Chief Executive of the Disasters Emergency Committee, Professor Ric Parker, Head of Research and Technology, Rolls Royce Plc, The Hon Sir Jonathon Porritt, founder of Forum for the Future and Sir Crispin Tickell, author of Climatic Change and World Affairs.
