Health Data Science funding call

This scheme is closed for applications.

About the scheme:

With support from the Wellcome Trust Institutional Strategic Support Fund (ISSF) the Elizabeth Blackwell Institute (EBI) Health Data Science research strand has funding available to support exemplar projects involving interdisciplinary collaborations across computer science/mathematics, engineering, health and social care, epidemiology and applied statistics and social science. We will support projects that foster new interdisciplinary collaborations in the field of advanced data science with respect to real world health problems. We also expect projects to contribute to local capacity and critical mass in Health Data Science. Projects that we would consider:

  • Address challenges considered a priority by health or social care services
  • Involve novel methodological approaches with the potential for wider application
  • Build capacity through creating new infrastructure
  • Show evidence of cross-disciplinary collaboration (this could include interdisciplinary training, shared data/IT resources etc)

Projects that may pave the way to potential external funding applications are particularly welcome.

Proposals must include at least one person from health sciences, and one person from another faculty.

Award details:

Funding is available to support two projects up to £10,000 each. In exceptional circumstances, if clear value can be demonstrated, a single project may be funded, up to £20,000. We expect projects to start by 1 June 2021 for a duration of up to 6 months. Where justified, longer duration of projects will be considered.
