Opportunity Bristol

Opportunity Bristol provides funding for UK students from Black backgrounds to undertake a fully funded research-focused Masters programme and will help successful awardees to gain the research skills and experience needed to apply for funded doctoral research opportunities in the future.   Applications for 24/25 entry are now closed.

Bristol PGR scholarships for applicants of Black heritage

These scholarships aim to address under-representation in postgraduate research and are available across the Faculty. Funding duration is for four years and includes an annual stipend to cover living costs, set at the UKRI rate of at least £18,622. Tuition fees and research costs are also included. Scholarships are available for specific PhD projects, you may also request to be nominated by a supervisor for a project which is not on this list.  Applications for 24/25 entry are now closed.

Bristol Postgraduate Research Scholarships

The Faculty of Life Sciences is offers University of Bristol full scholarships each year for PhD research projects. These are available to applicants with Home (UK) or International fee status. The provision covers fees and an annual stipend at the UKRI rate of at least £18,622.  Applications for 2024/25 entry are now closed.

Cotutelle Scholarship with Macquarie University, Australia

The Bristol-Macquarie Cotutelle programme is an exciting opportunity for students to spend two years studying at the University of Bristol and two years studying at Macquarie University, Australia. Funding duration is for four years and includes an annual stipend to cover living costs, with tuition fees, research costs and a travel allowance also included. These scholarships are available for any PhD programme within the Faculty of Life Sciences Schools. Please approach individual supervisors that work in research areas that you would be interested in working in, we also advertise projects for this degree programme.
