BILT holds an annual conference, the theme changes each year and we invite internal and external guests to contribute.

Voice and Choice – Student Agency, Empowerment and Co-creation - 2024
This year’s BILT conference will take place on Wednesday 10 July and is titled Voice and Choice – Student Agency, Empowerment and Co-creation. Applications are now open for individuals or teams who would like to contribute to this all day in-person event, taking place in the Merchant Venturer’s Building.

Building community and belonging in a challenging and changing world - 2023
This conference explored the role of community and belonging in creating what bell hooks calls “the best climate for learning”. It examined various themes such as inclusivity, interdisciplinarity, embedded authentic pedagogies, connection with the environment and with local and global communities. It took place on 12 July 2023.

The Compassionate Conference: transforming learning through pedagogies of care - 2022
The conference took place online on 28 June 2022 and explored how in difficult times we can take hopeful and compassionate approaches to teaching and assessment for transformational learning, both in person and on-line. The Connected Conference - 2021
The conference took place on 14 July 2021 on Zoom and explored how different connections have been established and nurtured, both in-person and online, and how we can take this forward into next year for both new and returning students. Tales from the Digital Classroom: Teaching in Uncertain Times - 2020
This was the first BILT conference to take place virtually and was held on Blackboard on 4 July 2020. The aim of the conference was to: Share stories and experiences of online teaching in order to: reflect, inspire, learn together, encourage experimentation, harness uncertainty and learn from mistakes.
