Dying is a bodily process, like pregnancy and birth. Yet, we often find it hard to discuss. In this special lunchtime session, end-of-life expert and bestselling author Dr Kathryn Mannix will share insights from her life and work, suggesting ways to open up tender conversations and truly listen.

Since taking early retirement from her clinical work, Kathryn Mannix has been campaigning to reclaim public understanding of dying. Her first book, With the End in Mind: How to Live and Die Well, skilfully and vividly tells the stories of thirty people’s deaths. Her second work, Listen: How to Find the Words for Tender Conversations, learning from her years as a cognitive behavioural therapist working with people facing the end of their lives.

In this special lunchtime session for Dying Matters Awareness Week, Dr Andrew Blades from the University of Bristol will interview Kathryn about her life and work. Refreshments will be available. After the interview, Kathryn will sign books.

Kathryn Mannix’s interview will be the first event run by the newly established centre: the Bristol Centre for Grief Research and Engagement. The Centre will be officially launched in July.

Ticket cost: £5-£8
