Partnership Event: The London Branch’s Canterbury Tour

Join the London Branch of Bristol Alumni for a walking tour of Canterbury on Saturday 12 October starting at 11 am. 

Following the popularity of their walks in London and Westminster Abbey, the London Branch of Bristol Alumni invites you on a walking tour of the historic city and the Cathedral of Canterbury. 

Event Programme 

  • Meeting Point: Buttermarket, CT1 2HA (just outside the main entrance to the Cathedral) at 11 am for a prompt 11:15 am start. 

Morning Tour 

City Walk: Enjoy a 90-minute guided walk around the historic city of Canterbury. Built by the Romans, Canterbury has been a centre for pilgrimages since the Middle Ages and is full of cobbled streets and timber-framed houses. Our tour will be led by a qualified guide who is a Bristol Alumni. 

Lunch 

Enjoy a light lunch with fellow alumni at a local restaurant (included in ticket price). 

Afternoon Tour 

Cathedral Tour: From 2:30 pm to 4 pm, experience an in-depth guided tour of the breathtaking Canterbury Cathedral, founded in 597 AD and the headquarters of the Church of England. 

Afternoon Tea: 

Indulge in traditional tea and scones at the Cathedral Lodge Café (included in ticket price). 

Optional Accommodation 

Make a weekend of the event with reserved accommodation at The Cathedral Lodge Hotel. Rooms are £160 per night and have a view of the Cathedral, breakfast included. Please indicate on the booking form for further details. Information on other activities in Canterbury on Sunday will also be provided. 

Tickets & Booking 
Tickets cost a total of £37.50 per person (includes lunch and tea with scones). Please note there will be a limit on numbers and high demand so we recommend you book your tickets well in advance.

Travel Information: 

  • By Car: The London Branch will send details of car parks after you book. 
  • By Train: Canterbury West station is a 10-minute walk from the Cathedral. There is an hourly service to Canterbury West from St Pancras or Stratford International via the Javelin train. Slower trains are available from Victoria to Canterbury East. 
  • By Coach: National Express services are available from Victoria.
