Save the date for the London Branch’s Annual Carol Service which will take place on Monday 16 December 2024. All Bristol Alumni and friends are welcome to attend. Tickets will be on sale soon! 

In a new initiative, the London Branch hope the singing will be led by a choir composed of Bristol Alumni. 

They are looking for alumni who... 

• Have some experience of singing in a choir 
• Can sing in tune 
• Can read music well enough for choral singing 

If you would like to be involved, they'd love to hear from you, even if you have not sung in a choir for a while. 

There will be some choir-only items and congregational carols which the choir will lead. 

Ahead of the service 

• You will be informed what you are singing and asked to learn your part
• To help everyone learn their parts, rehearsal tracks (MP3s) will be emailed or sent by WhatsApp (you will be asked to share your email address or number with the conductor)
• You will be expected to attend two rehearsals before the day: Monday 2 and Monday 9 December, both 7 pm to 8:30 pm at a venue in central London

On the day of the service 

• You will be expected to attend a rehearsal from 4:15 pm to 5:15 pm at St Vedast  

There aren’t auditions for the choir. However, to ensure a reasonable balance in the number of singers on each part, the Branch asks everyone interested to say which voice they sing (soprano/alto/tenor/bass), what choral experience they have, and how well they can read music.

The conductor will be Chris Maxim (BA Music 1992) who was a University Organ Scholar and has since conducted many choirs.  He's an expert in getting the best out of singers in a short space of time!
