Coppicing at Leigh Woods, Bristol
27 January 2002
For this trip the normal minibus trawl of Bristol was replaced by a
pleasant stroll over the suspension bridge. It rained most of the day, but
spirits remained high (especially at lunch time when we retreated to the
reserve office!). As well as the customary felling of small trees there
was also some organised processing of the timber and some optimistic
planting of bent-over branches!
Here's an email from the National Trust at Leigh Woods:
Sue & Beth
could you thank your group from their amazing efforts at
Leigh Woods. The group did an excellent job of coppicing for
us. I hope that not to many of them are still suffering from
the after effects of drowning.
Could you let us have contact details for next years president
of BUCG, it would be great if we could arrange another task
or two next year.
