Pushing open the door -
different choices about where to live

Most people with learning difficulites do not have much choice about where they live. Many people live in residential care homes, or with their families.

Housing Options is a housing advice service. The staff at Housing Options try to make sure that people with learning difficulities have more choices about where they live.

Ken Simons talked to people who have used Housing Options. He found that:

Housing Options gives you information and advice about different housing choices. Housing Options staff try to help you get these choices.

People said that the information they got from Housing Options was very helpful.

Some people with learning difficulties got the housing they wanted.
But there are still lots of things that stop people getting the choices they really want.
