There is no textbook in sign language sociolinguistics, yet (although there is one in production).  When this textbook is published (possibly by the end of 2000) it will be essential reading.

Detailed essential reading in the form of extensive course notes will be found on the CDS web site.

Chapter 2 of Sutton-Spence and Woll (1999) “The linguistics of BSL” (“BSL in its social context”) is essential reading before the course.
