Steering Group

The University of Bristol's participation in the Worldwide Universities Network (WUN) is overseen by the University of Bristol WUN Steering Group, chaired by the Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research.

 

Terms of reference

The University of Bristol’s WUN Steering Group is responsible for overseeing WUN activities in Bristol:

  • To monitor Bristol’s involvement in WUN and decide, in conjunction with University Research Committee, new areas for participation
  • To advise the Vice-Chancellor, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research and WUN Development Manager on WUN Strategy.
  • To make funding decisions on Research Mobility Programme applications.
  • To make funding decisions on Development Funding applications (devolving to sub-groups as required).
  • To keep under review the processes by which applicants bid for the Research Mobility Programme and Development Funding and the criteria used to judge these.
  • To promote an awareness of WUN and the opportunities it offers and to encourage involvement in WUN activities across the University.
  • Evaluation of WUN activities within the University.
  • To provide advice to the University Research Committee and the University Education Committee on WUN activities in the University as required.

The WUN Steering Group meets twice a year and reports to the University Research Committee (and the University Education Committee as required).

The Group is chaired by the Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research and includes representatives from University Research Committee, University Education Committee, Research and Enterprise Development and an academic representative from each Faculty. Faculty representatives are nominated by their Faculty Research Director and serve a three year term. Representatives from University Research Committee, University Education Committee and RED are invited by the Chair to serve.
