Official Veterinarian (OV) Course

A two-week intensive course for MRCVS Registered Veterinary Surgeons who wish to become Official Veterinarians authorized by the Food Standards Agency to perform official controls in meat premises in accordance with REGULATION (EU) 2017/625 on official controls and other official activities.

This course has been modified to reflect the changing role of the Official Veterinarian within licensed meat premises. In addition to receiving the OV certificate on successful completion of the course, the delegate will also undertake the full University of Bristol Animal Welfare Officer (AWO) and Poultry Welfare Officer (PWO) course.
