Making cycling affordable

woman with bikeHow can I save money on the cost of a bicycle and bicycle accessories?

Second Hand Bikes

You can get low cost, high quality reconditioned second hand bikes from Lifecycle and Bristol Bike Project.

Tax benefit cycle scheme

Staff are also able to get financial assistance if they cycle for work purposes as well as help towards the purchase of a new bike through the University's Cycle to Work Scheme.

Lock and light Sales

It is important to use a good quality cycle lock (silver rated or higher) and cycle lights.

The University sells Gold-rated D-Locks and cycle lights at heavily discounted prices for students, and at wholesale prices for staff members.

Locks and lights can also be purchased from Security Services at Royal Fort Security Lodge during their opening hours Monday to Friday 08:00 to 16:00 (Card payments only are accepted) and via the The Bristol SU Shop online shop with the physical shop open Monday to Friday, 10am - 4pm.  The University also holds adhoc cycle lock and light sales which will be advertised on cycle events programme, through the University's Cycle mailing list as well as other channels.
