The government has now improved the entitlement to concessionary travel. From 1 April 2006 people aged 60 plus and disabled people have been entitled to free off peak local bus travel.
The four local authorities in this area have produced a pass called the Diamond Travelcard. This pass allows holders free travel on buses, Monday to Friday from 09:00 until 04:00 the next day, and at any time on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays (Note: this pass is valid half an hour earlier than the Government’s minimum 09:30 start time).
Cardholders will be able to use their cards for free travel on bus journeys starting or ending anywhere within the area, as well as on those that go out of the area so long as there is no change of bus. Cards can also be used on the Universities Wessex Red Bus Network
