Workshop: Building a Play

2pm - 6pm, Wednesday 26th April 2023

Rehearsal Room 2, Wickham Theatre, Cantocks Close, BS8 1UP

This practical playwriting workshop will give you tools that will turn the tiniest original idea into a writable play project. We’ll show you how to test your ideas, build forms and structures, find characters and scenes, create shapes for your story, make your ideas resonate. You’ll be invited to ask yourself and your play interesting questions to make you think about it anew, gain new insights into what it’s really about for you and the world.

Participants need to bring an idea. This should be the beginning of an idea for a play (but not something you’ve already written). It could be: an image; a question; a topic; an action; a character; or a style. We’ll work on this idea in the workshop.

This workshop will be led by Dan Rebellato, who is an alumni of the University of Bristol.

Due to unforseen circumstances, David Greig is no longer able to take part in this workshop.
