A festschrift of papers in honour of Glynn Wickham celebrates the Department of Theatre’s strengths on its 75th anniversary: performance both historical and contemporary. 75 years ago Glynn Wickham found the UK’s first every Drama Department, innovating a discipline as well as the university landscape forever. This panel of papers pays homage to Glynn Wickham’s innovation by presenting cutting-edge ideas from the field of medieval theatre. Eleanor Rycroft (Senior Lecturer in Theatre, University of Bristol), Greg Walker (Regius Professor of English Literature, University of Edinburgh) and Clare Wright (Lecturer in Medieval English, University of Kent) will present work from the vanguard of their latest project, one which seeks to locate seemingly contemporary forms in medieval performance, as well as eruptions of the medieval in contemporary theatre.
