About BA Spanish

Expertise in modern languages has never been more important as the United Kingdom forges a new relationship with its European partners and seeks to develop its trading and cultural ties throughout the world.

The Single Honours Spanish course at Bristol allows you to achieve a command of modern spoken and written Spanish to a high level of fluency and accuracy. It also allows you to study many aspects of the society, culture, literature and linguistic history of Spanish-speaking countries across the globe.

You will develop a thorough understanding of the rich diversity of the culture in Spain and elsewhere in the Spanish-speaking world. As well as studying the literature and culture of Spain itself, you will cover the history, literature and cultures of Latin America. We offer popular and imaginative options on sports writing, women’s writing and cinema.

You will spend your third year on a study or work placement in a Spanish-speaking country.
