Exploring Arts and Social Sciences

Arts and Social Sciences shape the world we live in, from how we think of ourselves and each other, to how we manage money, to the laws that guide our society. There is a lot to explore and this course will introduce you to concepts, skills and ideas that inform our society.

Participants who complete this course are eligible for a guaranteed interview for the Foundation Year in Arts and Social Sciences. Information, advice and support will be given to those students who are interested in applying to this programme, or to another undergraduate degree at Bristol.

Areas of study may include:

  • Philosophy
  • English Literature
  • Economics

Each week will include a seminar discussion and/or group activity. There will also be the opportunity to reflect on your learning and how it relates to wider contexts.

This course may suit you if:

  • You are interested in Arts, Social Sciences, or Economics and Finance.
  • You have thought about going to university but are not sure how to start.
  • You would like to experience a selection of taster lessons before considering a further study programme, such as the Foundation Year in Arts and Social Sciences.
