Facilities

The University continually invests in new and existing buildings, facilities and technology to make sure you receive an education of the highest quality.

Supporting your studies

We aim to create the best available teaching and learning environment, giving you the support and resources you need to achieve your academic ambitions.

With a new campus being developed at the heart of our buzzing city, adding to our state-of-the art facilities and internationally renowned research environment, it’s an exciting time to become a University of Bristol student.

A programme of major redevelopment began in 2018 and will create a pedestrianised, student-centred focus for our Clifton campus. A new, multi-purpose Study Resource Hub at the centre of the campus will offer creative learning and social space and a study support centre, while our improved indoor sports centre recently opened after a £4.9 million redevelopment.

University libraries

Our nine University libraries house over 1.4 million volumes of printed books and journals - the largest academic collection in the south west of England.

Archives and collections

The Brunel Collection and the Penguin Archive are just some of the archives and special collections held at the University. Theatre Collection is an accredited museum and research centre dedicated to the study of British theatre history.

The plant collections at the University's Botanic Garden are used extensively for teaching, while the Geology museum houses over 100,000 specimens, some of international importance. Many other departments hold their own archives and special collections.

Study spaces

You’ll find study spaces across the University, for quiet study, group-working or in a more social setting. Over 2,000 PCs are available for you to use, including those in our study spaces with 24-hour access.

IT support

Our IT Service Desk will provide you with advice and support. They offer dedicated laptop and mobile clinics. On-campus IT teams support teaching and research activity. Find out more about our IT services for students.

My subject is particularly enjoyable and I value highly the teaching staff, facilities, libraries and study spaces that are available.
