During University

We want our university to be a place where everyone can succeed, be valued, and belong. It is a priority of the university to actively host, fund, and support initiatives that build belonging for students of Asian, Black and other racialised minority backgrounds. These include:

 Race Inclusion Advocates

Our Advocates are current students of colour who work partnership with by the University to improve the academic experience and support services for students of Asian, Black, or other racialised minority backgrounds. They also challenge the University on the work it does to be an Anti-racist organisation.

Inclusive Mental Health Support

Nilaari provides a culturally appropriate counselling service. This service provides help and support for  Asian, Black, or other racialised minority backgrounds and we offer five free counselling sessions from Nilaari.

Student Funding

Students can find out more about our funding arrangements here. This page includes information and guidance for students from Muslim and other faiths, with a focus on financing education and complying with Sharia law. Bristol offers several different bursaries and scholarships, including our Black Futures Scholarships

Anti-racism at Bristol

We are committed to being an anti-racist organisation and ensuring that our University is an inclusive place to study. We continue to take action including; educating our staff on anti-racism, participating in 1000 Black Women Professors now and launching the £10 million Reparative Futures programme to bring about institutional change. Find out more about the current anti-racism activities happening across the University of Bristol.

 Renewing our curriculum

We acknowledge the impact of colonialism on our teaching practices and are actively decolonising our curriculum, campus and collections. Watch this video to find out what our Biomedical Science Schools are doing to diversify their curriculum. We also contribute to and support the innovative Cargo Classroom initiative.
