Erasmus+ and Study Abroad

Student mobility is an important part of our University strategy, and we are committed to providing opportunities for Bristol students to broaden their university experience by going abroad.

Following Brexit, the UK will no longer be a part of the Erasmus+ scheme. But, UK universities can continue to take part in the programme until its end date in July 2022. This means students nominated for an Erasmus+ study or work placement in the 2021/22 academic year can complete their placement and receive a grant.

In September 2021, the UK government launched the Turing scheme, providing £100 million in funding and enabling 35,000 students around the UK to go on placements.

For the 2022-23 academic year, the University has applied for further Turing funding but has not yet received the results of that bid. Eligible students will be contacted directly later in the summer when we find out the results.

Students from widening participation backgrounds will be prioritised.

We will continue to offer a range of opportunities for students to study, work and volunteer abroad.
