Cancel your contract before the tenancy start date
Find out how to cancel your University accommodation contract before your tenancy has started.
If you decide to not to live in University accommodation, you must cancel your room booking and follow the relevant guidance depending upon your individual circumstance.
If you do not follow this guidance, you may be liable for your full accommodation fee.
Cancellation policy for:
Undergraduate students
You can cancel your accommodation contract before your tenancy start date by emailing student-accommodation@bristol.ac.uk. You will then be released from your tenancy agreement, and you will not be liable for any rent payments.
If you cancel your accommodation after your tenancy start date, you will remain liable for the full accommodation fee unless you are able to find a replacement tenant. Read more on our Cancel your tenancy page.
Postgraduate students
You can cancel your accommodation contract before your tenancy start date by emailing student-accommodation@bristol.ac.uk.
If you cancel your booking within seven days of paying your £500 rent in advance, you will receive a full refund and you will not be liable for any further payments.
If you cancel your booking after seven days of paying your £500 rent in advance (but before the tenancy start date), you will not receive a refund for your rent in advance but you will not be liable for any further payments.
Postgraduate students who have been allocated Chantry Court
You can cancel your accommodation contract before the tenancy start date by emailing cancellations@unitestudents.com and student-accommodation@bristol.ac.uk.
If you cancel your accommodation contract during the "7 day cooling off period" (7 days after you completed your room booking), you will recieve a full refund for your £250 rent in advance payment and you will not be liable for any further payments.
If you cancel your accommodation contract after your "7 day cooling off period", you will remain liable for the full accommodation fee unless you can find a replacement tenant. Read more on our Nomination properties page.
Postgraduate students who have been allocated Deans Court or Woodland Court
You can cancel your accommodation contract before the tenancy start date by emailing student.enquiries@a2dominion.co.uk and student-accommodation@bristol.ac.uk. You will not be liable for any rent payments.
If you cancel your accommodation contract after your tenancy start date, you will remain liable for the full accommodation fee unless you can find a replacement tenant. Read more on our Nomination properties page.
