Students in University allocated accommodation have basic personal effects insurance provided as part of their accommodation contract. This page gives details of the policy for all University residences.
Cover for students starting in the 2022/2023 academic year is provided by Cover4insurance with their product Cover4students. The policy number is BRIS2022. All policies contain exclusions and conditions so please check the policy documents carefully.
For instance, bicycles are not insured under this policy and mobile phones are only covered (excluding Accidental Damage) when in your room. You can however, purchase top up covers directly from Cover4insurance, see here: UoB Leaflet 22-23 (PDF, 497kB) or here.

This policy should not be a substitute for adequate travel insurance.
The University of Bristol Students’ Union is included under the University of Bristol’s insurance arrangements as regards legal liability risks.
The Public Liability insurance includes member to member liability for members of most Student Union clubs or societies (excluding clubs involved with aerial (e.g. sky diving), underground (e.g. caving), water (e.g. yacht club) activities - members of clubs in these excluded areas should ask their club for details of their Public Liability insurance).
