NIHR renews CAPC's membership of the School for Primary Care Research

Following an open competition in the summer of 2014, the membership of the NIHR School for Primary Care Research (NIHR SPCR) from 1 October 2015 to 30 September 2020 will comprise nine members including the Centre for Academic Primary Care at the University of Bristol.

The other members are from the Universities of Cambridge, Keele, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham, Oxford, Southampton and UCL.

Professor Chris Salisbury, Head of the Centre for Academic Primary Care at the University of Bristol, said: "We are delighted to be re-appointed to the NIHR School for Primary Care Research. In Bristol we are leading cutting-edge research on topics which are of huge importance to the NHS, such as avoidable hospital admissions, domestic violence, antimicrobial resistance, mental health, sexual health, and the management of patients with long-term conditions.

"Our work is strengthened through being part of the School for Social and Community Medicine, allowing us to work with outstanding researchers in related fields such as public health. Being part of the NIHR School for Primary Care Research helps us to build collaborations with other leading institutions, and also gives us access to funding for studentships and fellowships to train the next generation of primary care researchers."
