Prepare for Kidney Care Trial

The NHS has funded the Prepare for Kidney Care study, which aims to help older people with kidney disease make the right decision for them when their kidney function is getting very low.

The study has been designed with patients and kidney specialists and includes a number of different types of research, including interviews with patients and their families and studies comparing two ways of preparing people for the possibility that their kidneys may stop working sufficiently at some point in the future.

Recruitment to the Prepare for Kidney Care study began in July 2017. For an introduction to the study please watch the video below and to see a list of the renal units taking part please visit our Recruitment Centres section.
